Harvey Kryger, whose full name is Abraham Harvey Kryger, recently retired as the owner and Medical Director of the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic, located in Monterey, California. His clinic was distinguished for its focus on preventative healthcare, advocating for early intervention to ward off diseases through balanced nutrition, exercise routines, and hormone management. Though he retired in 2023, he remains deeply engaged in the field, continuing his research and offering ongoing consultation to his former patients.
Kryger's extensive educational qualifications include earning an MD and a DMD from the University of Manitoba. His advanced training included a challenging internship and multiple fellowships at Stanford University's Santa Clara Valley Medical Centre beginning in 1973. There, he gained significant experience in the Burn Unit and expanded his surgical skills. His educational journey extended through 1975 with further specialization under prominent plastic surgeons across Israel, France, and Switzerland.
A deep commitment to community health marked Kryger's professional path. He began practicing dentistry in 1969 in Vancouver, Canada, where he also provided crucial dental services to Indigenous tribes in Northern Manitoba, focusing on preventive care. His expertise and dedication led him to the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles in 1975, where he ascended to Medical Director, overseeing emergency services and surgical procedures.
His interest in holistic health took him to the Sonoma County Holistic Health Center from 1977 to 1980. He was part of a pioneering group that integrated traditional medical treatments with alternative medicine, working closely with acupuncturists and other holistic practitioners. This experience paved the way for him to establish the Alternative Medicine Foundation in Sebastopol, where he was pivotal in demonstrating the efficacy of alternative health practices.
Kryger spent much of his career at the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic, starting in 1990. His work there focused on advancing preventive health measures and hormone balancing, garnering acclaim from many patients who experienced profound health improvements under his care.
Kryger also authored several key publications, including "Listen To Your Hormones—A Doctor’s Guide to Sex, Love, and Long Life" and "A Woman's Guide to Men's Health," which have played a crucial role in educating the public about hormonal health and wellness.
Kryger is dedicating his efforts to his next publication, "Surgery without Surgery: How Acupuncture Works in Medical Practice," aiming to merge traditional medical insights with innovative treatment methods. Beyond his professional commitments, he enjoys creative pursuits like painting and sculpting and maintains a farm where he raises goats and chickens and cultivates Monarch Butterflies, promoting environmental education and conservation.
Through his clinical practice, educational efforts, and environmental activism, Kryger has made a lasting impact on the medical community and his local area. He embodies a holistic approach to health that extends beyond the clinic into the broader community.
